God is a DJ. Life is a dance floor! If you get this song by Pink youβll totally be groovinβ on this play.
Based on the novel An Interview with God, An Act of God is just pure, comic heaven. It is relaxed and clever and nuanced and the perfect vehicle for TV star Sean Hayes. I was worried that I would be dissappointed to see βJust Jackβ from the classic Will and Grace series – live on stage. I thought it would make me miss Will and Grace. I know that when I way his co-star Eric McCormack I was disappointed. I just wanted to see Will. Β But Sean Hayes is perfect! Continue reading An Act of God→
I have had my first whirlwind of theatre and maxed. I have been shooting up theatre every night for weeks now. AND, as all good addicts, I have to find a bit of rehab to run to two recover my senses – and, of course, prepare myself to willingly fall off the wagon in a few days. It took place in the backroom of a tiny gallery in Chinatown and promised a glass of champaign. Iβm in! Continue reading The Flying Doctor by Moliere→

I need to apologize to all upfront – I had trouble being attentive to this story. Rack it up to age or the being the 15th show in a week – but some of this story just slid on by me. Β Β The brain is no easy story – and this play is all about the brain. (I found it ironic that my first play on this trip to NYC was The Effect and my last show of this trip was Incognito: one trying to medicate the brain and the other walking around and taunting it. Is it dopamine or is it love? That is a new question for the stage. The Effect is a fascinating story of a drug trial clinic that uses both a male and a female as guinea pigs. They are both (?) given increasingly larger doses of a new, experimental anti-depressant to test its effect and side effects. And as they become attached to each other, they question the source of this attraction . . . Continue reading The Effect→
