God it is great to see a good play with actors that work WITH each other and CARE, CARE, CARE about what they are saying. No End to Blame is that play. After a string of weak plays, I was thrilled. I kicked off my shoes, curled up in my seat, and โwillingly suspended my disbelief.” Continue reading No End to Blame→

It was so fun to turn back time and return to my days at Penn State as an MFA Playwright. Every night was spent in a โtheatreโ more correctly called โstorage roomโ working a script over and over to see if there is was any hope to see something flourish in the five minutes to warrant exploring it to take it to ten minutes. It was never about getting it โright.โ It was about โgetting it up.” Continue reading Behind the Mask→

I am caught in a vortex of bad theatre. I am rethinking my whole idea of checking tdf.com for discount tickets. โYou get what you pay for.โ >> I am truly learning it this week! ย The motivator to see this production was that I have taught the one act plays that are part of the collection of Tennessee Williams one act anthology, 27 Wagons Full of Cotton for over 20 years. It is my favorite group of short plays that teach good sound playwriting structure. The kids do NOT think they will love these โoldโ plays – but after a bit of study – they love them. I was excited to see these seldom done gems by pros! Continue reading 2 by Tennessee Williams→

In my 30+ years of coming to see theatre in NYC, this is one of the 10 WORST PRODUCTIONS I HAVE EVER SEEN. Now, please understand, I LOVE this play. Theatre of the Absurd is my passion, and Ionesco is the master writer! The moment that I saw that there was a production of Rhinoceros in NYC, I bought tickets. I didnโt care who was doing it; I didnโt care how long I was on the train! Continue reading Rhinoceros→

I love the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in Edinburgh, Scotland. I have been lucky enough to have attended twice and I canโt wait to get back for more. It is so exciting to see theatre done in every square inch of the city! ย Theatre 5959 brings some of those events to its theatre in July as they prepare to pack their bags and head to Scotland for the festival in August. It’s is a great place to truly see the good, bad and ugly of performance art and theatre. It is all about the no-budget, no-setting, living a dream kind of theatre.
