How I Learned to Drive

I understand she was the victim – – -but during her college years why did she continue to visit her perpetrator?  What is her goal?  What does she want from him?  It just seems like she randomly visits him.  So often she just seemed unaware of the world around her.  I get that this kind of abuse would leave her damaged – – but she lost her objective – she just aimlessly wondered through the last half of the play.  The set confused me (large beams) hanging out over the proscenium.  The purpose and casting of the other family roles confused me.  This play just made me feel stupid.  Maybe I was having an off night but I just didn’t leave the theatre with anything to hold on to.  The play led me to no new thinking or any emotional connection to any of the characters.
