This was by FAR the best play that I have seen in many months.Β In only about 75 tight moments on stage this play prepares you for a kick in the gut that my entire row in the theatre AUDIBLE recoiled at the playβs conclusion.Β It started with a slow wind-up as the mother (Kerry Washington) paces around the stage in complete agitated silence checking her cell phone again and again.Β It seems like forever.Β The lady next to me actually thought someone had forgotten to enter.Β But the pain of the wait was oh so necessary. There is acting and then there is Three Tall Women.Β This play was simply a masterclass in acting.Β Three Women (obviously) dominate the stage and you simply cannot take your eyes off of them for a second. Β Glenda Jackson, Laurie Metcalf, and Alison Pill – WOW!Β Whoever arranged that coup of casting needs to get a big bonus. Continue reading Three Tall Women→

Now Part 2 – and what in the holy hell can ytou talk about in aΒ a review.Β An audience sits through 4 blissful hours of theatre that engages everyone of your senses, challenges your brain with history, metaphors, poverty and sheer intelligent discourse for 4 hours and NEVER leaves you bored.Β I have never been to a show that I thought could just go on and on forever and I would just willing sit and absorb.Β Continue reading Angels in America Part 2: Perestroika→

The Theatre just doesnβt get better than the last few minutes of Angels in America – Millenium Approaches.Β All the magic and the prophecy Β that is laid out in the the early scenes literally comes crashing down in the final moments of the play.Β It is an epic moment – in the truest sense of the word.Β The play itself starts out with some LOUD rolling epic music that nearly takes the roof off of the place, and you wonder is the play is EVER live up to that soundtrack.Β Β Well, it does and then some! I have seen Bette Midler in concert in her Las Vegas show, and last night I saw Bette Midlerβs Hello Dolly – without Bette Midler.Β I think this was the smartest choice to see this musical.Β I have heard from my friends the Bette Midler as Dolly Levi was terrific.Β She commanded the stage and you couldnβt take your eyes off of her.Β I am sure that is true.Β But I saw Donna Murphy as Dolly Levi and THAT was perfect for me.
