Alex Edelman Just for Us

The major arc of the show was about a true-life experience that Alex Edelman had on a “Tueday night in 2017” when he attended a small meeting of white supremacists in Brooklyn.  What was a nice Jewish boy doing attending this meeting?  This Mr. Edelman never explains but it certainly gives grist to this presentation.

This show was so pointedly about the Jewish experience that I felt I was missing some of the jokes. It was as if I was invited to some large Jewish family dinner and one of the precocious children at the table started to tell jokes and act out events from Hebrew school and other adventures with his friends.  The whole family around the table was in stiches but I was left out of many of the jokes.  I was left sitting by myself smiling and amused but never really able to laugh in that i didn’t fully understand what was being brought to the table.

I did love to sit in the audience, as I did, surrounded by Jewish audience members who were laughing non-stop.  They were having a terrific time.  I only wanted to have the experience they had . . .
