There is acting and then there is Three Tall Women.Β This play was simply a masterclass in acting.Β Three Women (obviously) dominate the stage and you simply cannot take your eyes off of them for a second. Β Glenda Jackson, Laurie Metcalf, and Alison Pill – WOW!Β Whoever arranged that coup of casting needs to get a big bonus. Continue reading Three Tall Women→

Where are we going as a human race?Β Are things getting better, or are we walking to our own destruction?Β It sort of depends on the day and what section of the news you open first.Β The Secret Life of Humans is a transplant from the EdinburghΒ Festival last summer.Β The play covers a huge range of topics from a very collegiate lecture on the origin of man and the weary steps he has taken forward to the nonsense of a Tinder date that leads into a scavenger hunt over the βundisclosed work of un-named scientist working for the British government during World War 2.β Continue reading The Secret Life of Humans→

And I will take a pie with that!Β Tonight I brought my group to the immersive production of Sweeney Todd, Demon Barber of Fleet Street at the Barrow Street Theatre.Β I love the perspective of environmental theatre that puts the audience in the center of the equation; it is just to nice to be PART of the story.Β We began with the quite good but quite small portioned pies that were served as a pre-show event to get you in the mood for the βreal meatβ pies that are served in the course of the story. It was fun.Β It got you into the environment. Continue reading Sweeney Todd, the Demon Barber of Fleet Street→

The baby is going to die.Β Donβt treat this as a spoiler to the play.Β From the very first moment when the baby is handled a bit too objectively – – Β you KNOW it doesnβt stand a chance – – – and for ninety terrible – beautiful and outrageously acted moments – we play out the inevitable tragedy. Β What made this play a bit brutal from the start was how close it plays through mental illness, depression and even suicide.Β Just days ago we lost Kate Spade and Andrew Bourdain.Β The world has just become too dangerous, too private, and too painful to take personal tragedy this casually!Β Continue reading Cyprus Avenue→

Now Part 2 – and what in the holy hell can ytou talk about in aΒ a review.Β An audience sits through 4 blissful hours of theatre that engages everyone of your senses, challenges your brain with history, metaphors, poverty and sheer intelligent discourse for 4 hours and NEVER leaves you bored.Β I have never been to a show that I thought could just go on and on forever and I would just willing sit and absorb.Β Continue reading Angels in America Part 2: Perestroika→
