But then Act 2 begins and most of the Britney and most of the dancing fades into the background as they try to lead Cinderella and her reader to becoming empowered and beginning to take up their own pen and begin to write their own story. It becomes a simple, sweet play and looses all of its musical punch. You could see the audience clearly hungry for their next dose of Britney and the next appearance of the fabulous Prince Charming – but to no avail. The only time that the musical resurrects itself to its Act 1 high is in the “after curtain-call” when the house gets up and dances with the actors to one last Britney mega-hit. It was something to watch the audience politely clap for the show and pick up his/her jacket and shuttle on out to the lobby – BUT then Britney starts back up and the musical quickly works to redeem itself in the last moments. I just don’t understand why all of the power moments were packed into the first act with nothing left for the second half. I know that I am not the only one that noticed.
