There is acting and then there is Three Tall Women.Β  This play was simply a masterclass in acting.Β  Three Women (obviously) dominate the stage and you simply cannot take your eyes off of them for a second. Β  Glenda Jackson, Laurie Metcalf, and Alison Pill – WOW!Β  Whoever arranged that coup of casting needs to get a big bonus. Continue reading Three Tall Women

Now Part 2 – and what in the holy hell can ytou talk about in aΒ a review.Β  An audience sits through 4 blissful hours of theatre that engages everyone of your senses, challenges your brain with history, metaphors, poverty and sheer intelligent discourse for 4 hours and NEVER leaves you bored.Β  I have never been to a show that I thought could just go on and on forever and I would just willing sit and absorb.Β  Continue reading Angels in America Part 2: Perestroika

The Theatre just doesn’t get better than the last few minutes of Angels in America – Millenium Approaches.Β  All the magic and the prophecy Β that is laid out in the the early scenes literally comes crashing down in the final moments of the play.Β  It is an epic moment – in the truest sense of the word.Β  The play itself starts out with some LOUD rolling epic music that nearly takes the roof off of the place, and you wonder is the play is EVER live up to that soundtrack.Β Β Well, it does and then some! Kinky Boots lived up to everything I expected! Β It was fun and silly and didn’t pretend to be anything that it couldn’t deliver. Β I felt like a was watching a bit of Billy Elliot, Hairspray, and La Cage, Β  Kinky Boots shared the same themes of individuality, love, and fierceness that connect all the shows above – but I did NOT get bored. Β Never once did I look at my watch. Β It kept me involved the entire time. Β Speaking of fierceness, Wayne Brady rocks. Β  Continue reading Kinky Boots

From the first moment of music I was won.Β  The Egyptian music was so wonderfully foreign to me – and so passionate and emotional – It was an entire show before the first character entered.Β  It is hard to describe the wonderfulness of this show.Β  I suppose if you were schooled in international music you would have heard some of this Jewish/Egyptian/Arabic music and all of its unique orchestration it would be old hat you Β – but, for me, it was new, new, new.Β  Passion played out is such new and unusual ways.
