Now Part 2 – and what in the holy hell can ytou talk about in aΒ a review.Β  An audience sits through 4 blissful hours of theatre that engages everyone of your senses, challenges your brain with history, metaphors, poverty and sheer intelligent discourse for 4 hours and NEVER leaves you bored.Β  I have never been to a show that I thought could just go on and on forever and I would just willing sit and absorb.Β  Continue reading Angels in America Part 2: Perestroika

The Theatre just doesn’t get better than the last few minutes of Angels in America – Millenium Approaches.Β  All the magic and the prophecy Β that is laid out in the the early scenes literally comes crashing down in the final moments of the play.Β  It is an epic moment – in the truest sense of the word.Β  The play itself starts out with some LOUD rolling epic music that nearly takes the roof off of the place, and you wonder is the play is EVER live up to that soundtrack.Β Β Well, it does and then some! A Letter to Harvey Milk was just such a sweet way to spend a Saturday afternoon in NYC.Β  From the notices of the play it was difficult to tell what the musical was actually going to be about.Β  Was it going to be some kind of a biography of Harvey Milk or a story of an older Jewish man trying to come to piece with being a widower after so many years of a happy marriage – – or – or was it going to be a story of the power of writing as a way to release your mojo?Β  Which?Β  How? To what end? Continue reading A Letter to Harvey Milk

Well, I saw it before. Β Here were my thought 6 months ago: http://nyctheatreaddict.com/afterglow/Β . Β Now what would lead me back to see a show a second time – – which I have only done a handful of time in over 30 years of NYC theatre going? Β Could nudity be a part of the answer? Β Damn right. Β There is a place for the sordid and exploitive. Β Not all theatre needs to uplift or enlighten. Β Sometimes two dudes in a shower is enough for a Friday night in NYC. Continue reading Afterglow

Kinky Boots lived up to everything I expected! Β It was fun and silly and didn’t pretend to be anything that it couldn’t deliver. Β I felt like a was watching a bit of Billy Elliot, Hairspray, and La Cage, Β  Kinky Boots shared the same themes of individuality, love, and fierceness that connect all the shows above – but I did NOT get bored. Β Never once did I look at my watch. Β It kept me involved the entire time. Β Speaking of fierceness, Wayne Brady rocks. Β  Continue reading Kinky Boots
