Purpose

He takes this fictional shiny highly public and prestigious black family and exposes all the dark and twisted corners underneath.  Although the play is over three hours in length, I never checked my watch once – a true test of a plays worth to me!  Another test I applied is that my favorite character of the play was whichever character was speaking at the time.  There was no such thing as a supporting character – each character was so vital to the story with such a strong back story and contribution to the future of the story!  As one of my audience mates commented at the intermission, it was as if you were watching the best of August: Osage County, Cat on a Hot Tin Roof and Glass Menagerie all rolled around the history of the Civil Rights Movement.  I do not remember when good ol’ fashioned realistic play so roped me in and kept me on the edge of my seat.  Just when you thought you knew where the play was going next you were proven wrong.  See this play!  You will not be disappointed!
