The first obstacle to enjoying this show was the obvious premise that the entire show was being filmed for some sort of documentary. A director and camera man were running up and down the aisles with an unnecessary banter about the difficulty of making the film. Clearly this was just a devise to connect one dance number to the next. Totally unnecessary . . .
The second obstacle to the show was the tracking of the young female superstar in the group from earnest child to jaded diva. The story was just too thin and too predictable and the emotionality just too forced. And no one could really “act.” What they had in magnificent choreography they lacked in believability.
Please go if you love the quintessential “boy band” and “girl bands.” You will not be disappointed. And as to the story – relax more dancing is soon to follow.
