I am bringing people to the theatre who have not been to Broadway before and I was looking for the perfect show. Chicago was the choice. Although I saw it years and years ago just as Ann Rainken was leaving the show, I so remember the good time feeling at the end of the show and the rush of energy as you followed the music from the theatre to the street. However, I do feel a bit odd about this choice. As what I would consider, a well seasoned NewYork theatre goer, I feel just a tad embarrassed about this choice. Funny. I guess that I am one to see the shows when they are in their first days that I am somewhat reluctant to visit shows that have lived on and on. Is a pop-out to go to NYC and not see Hamilton but see Chicago? No, I don’t think so. There is a reason that Chicago has lasted so long and absolutely NO reason that this magic has diminished over the years. Although I really do not know anyone in the current cast, I am sure that they approach each night with a new and vibrant sizzle and pop. I hope that I never become so arrogant that I turn up my nose at shows that have stood the test of time. It can be VERY COOL and go to NYC and see Chicago again and again. Bring on that “noisy hall”
