When I am not able to run away to NYC I am found in Jacksonville, Florida at Douglas Anderson School of the Arts teaching theatre to an incredible group of young students. I have been keeping a daily blog on my impressions of the class and of their journey at www.theatreclassaddict.com. I have returned to Jacksonville from my summer in New York City. While there I was able to take in a formidable 27 shows which equates to 2,970 minutes sitting in the air-conditioned darkness with live theatre. I saw 4 💉💉💉💉💉 shows: Long Day’s Journey, Hadestown, Privacy, and Skeleton Crew and many, many 💉💉💉💉 shows. I saw 2 💉 shows: Lucie Pohl “Apohcalypse” and 2 by Tennessee Williams. I had to invite an entire new category: Poison ☠reserved for the very worst of theatre which I gave to Rhinoceros. I was also delighted to see two brand new plays featuring alumni of Douglas Anderson School of the Arts. It was one terrific summer! I have had my first whirlwind of theatre and maxed. I have been shooting up theatre every night for weeks now. AND, as all good addicts, I have to find a bit of rehab to run to two recover my senses – and, of course, prepare myself to willingly fall off the wagon in a few days. Spring Break is here and I am ready to get my butt into some theatre seats and enjoy my very favorite pastime in the world. I have tickets to five shows as I write – but certainly I have plans to see a FEW more. As I am in the midst of my annual production, I am weary of theatre but wanting more and more . . . Addiction.
