Cellino v. Barnes Written by Mike B. Breen & David Rafailades Directed by Wesley Taylor & Alex Wyse AsylumNYC Theater October 10, 2024 Production website ππππ out of 5.
Anyone who has spent any time walking the streets of New York, looking at billboards or the sides of busses β but especially listening to TV and the radio has heard the ubiquitous, simple jingle of βCellino and Barnes, Injury Attorneys, 1-800-888-8888.βΒ Β It was EVERYWHERE!βΒ Β When the firm fell apart in 2019, followed shortly after by the death of Barnes in a small-plane crash, it became a tale of machismo, hubris, and lawyers where were doing a few to many shady things on the side.Β

Three Houses Music, Lyrics, Book and Orchestrations by Dave Malloy Directed and Choreographed by Annie Tippe Signature Theatre May 29, 2024 Production website ππππ out of 5.
βMy heart broke and then the world broke and then my brain broke too, and I donβt know which one to blame.β Three Houses is the first piece of musical theatre that Iβve seen that explores the psychological trauma experienced at the peak of the COVID pandemic as its theme: the isolation and separation and fear. The audience is cozily set in the round in a run down smoky over-stuffed cocktail bar for an open mic night as three guests are called forward to share
Job The Play by Max Wolf Friedlich Starring Peter Friedman & Sydney Lemmon Directed by Michael Herwitz Connelly Theater February 5, 2024 Production website ππππ out of 5.
Have you ever seen a play and then wanted to tell a friend about it – – – but you just had to bite your tongue to prevent talking about the totally unexpected, yet perfectly prepared for ending.Β This play was so damn good but the end was the very best part.Β BUT you knew that if you told them the end, then the whole thing was ruined. That’s the way I feel about seeing Job. The play was terrific, but damn, if I am not tempted to tell you how the whole thing ended . . .
Russian Troll Farm by Sarah Gancher Directed by Darko Tresnjak Vineyard Theatre February 1, 2024 Production website ππππ out of 5.
Russian Troll Farm was an amazing night in the theatre.Β It far exceeded any expectations I had as I took my seat.Β Based on an actual Internet Research Agency in Russia – – we follow professional internet trolls working for days at a time to influence American popular opinion, creating the illusion of consensusβor conflict. There are floors for Twitter, for Facebook, memes, fake news, and comments sections.Β Mis-information is big business indeed!Β The play focuses specifically on months leading up to the election of Donald Trump and the defeat of Hilary Clinton. Russian Troll FarmΒ imagines the daily lives of these trolls/workers as they invent characters, stage conflicts, and create conspiracies. What happens to your grasp on the truth when your whole job is lying? How does your identity shift when you impersonate Americans for a living?
