There is a hurricane (Hermine) coming and a three day Labor Day weekend coming. What does that mean? Time to send the poodles off to poodle camp and hit the tarmac for a power weekend of theatre! Of course the tarmac became hours of watching the storm clouds roll around – but two sweet shows was well worth the wait. Β Β An unplanned quicky is a great deal of fun. I am suprised they are not more popular . . .

Please Check Out My Teaching Blog
When I am not able to run away to NYC I am found in Jacksonville, Florida at Douglas Anderson School of the Arts teaching theatre to an incredible group of young students. I have been keeping a daily blog on my impressions of the class and of their journey at www.theatreclassaddict.com. I would love for you to join me on the adventure. Β I am planning to return to NYC in middle October (birthday time) to catch the new fall shows. Thanks to all of you for reading and offering your feedback!
2016: A Summer of Theatre Draws to a Close
I have returned to Jacksonville from my summer in New York City. While there I was able to take in a formidable 27 shows which equates to 2,970 minutes sitting in the air-conditioned darkness with live theatre. I saw 4 πππππ shows: Long Dayβs Journey, Hadestown, Privacy, and Skeleton Crew and many, many ππππ shows. I saw 2 π shows: Lucie Pohl βApohcalypseβ and 2 by Tennessee Williams. I had to invite an entire new category: Poison β reserved for the very worst of theatre which I gave to Rhinoceros. I was also delighted to see two brand new plays featuring alumni of Douglas Anderson School of the Arts. It was one terrific summer! Here is a list of the summer shows: Continue reading 2016: A Summer of Theatre Draws to a Close

π out of 5.
Β This is a chick-flick without the βflickβ – and what was left – wasnβt much. Theatre is a rather sacred space to me. It is place to do a kind of art that is unique to live performance and would never be able to successfully translate into film or TV. When you write for the stage, you should really want to USE THE STAGE. This play just didnβt need the stage. It could have done all it did with film or television. A live audience was not needed. No π rating. This is about workshopping a new play
I love to go and support new work and to support the work of alumni of Douglas Anderson School of the Arts. Today I was happy to attend the opening performance of We Were the Children that featured Jessie Booth. As I said above, I do not like to use my π rating in that this is a BRAND new work and is really just trying to gets its legs underneath it. I simply offer some feedback from what I saw.
